Research interests
Tysen's current work uses reception history to unite approaches from music studies and experimental psychology. His dissertation project focuses on the reception of American minimalism in the long Sixties and examines how racialized psychological states influenced listening experiences and aesthetic judgements of compositions by Pauline Oliveros, Philip Glass, Steve Reich, Terry Riley, and La Monte Young.
